My friend, cat Artiess, with your beautiful sable fur that shone luxuriously in the sunlight. Your golden eyes so bright. When I first brought you home as a kitten you surprised me by walking, upright. I had never seen a bipedal cat before! You became my only friend in a strange new city,a delight to come home to. Dancing to the Cocteau Twins “Iceblink Luck” and later, shopping for chow at A&P. . Our Garden District apartment got flooded and a mushroom grew up out of the floorboard. We adopted a runaway(?) pregnant tortie Claudia and later her kittens, Maria & Rusty; then tabby Silver. Together we rode out Hurricane Andrew and other storms. It felt terrible to lose you and I fought for you as best I could. This is the only photo I have left, from my apartment on Rocheblave. I miss you always and remember you every day with love. – Diana
