Lilly was raised in Boston, MA and named after “The Garden” by her owner Kristie Galonek. Kristie was living in the North End in college and worked as a personal clothing stylist on Newbury Street. A client came into the store with a new puppy that had no name. The next day, Kristie received a call from her manager saying that a woman had just called and asked to give her puppy to Kristie, as she was gifted to her and she had no intention of keeping her or anywhere for the dog to go. This is when their incredible, nearly 15 year adventure began. Kristie took a cab to pick up the puppy and immediately their bond was inseparable. Lilly and Kristie were kindred spirits and loved to play, explore, and make the most of every day together. Lilly was well traveled and lived in various cities around the country including New York City, Portland, ME, Austin, TX and visited everywhere in between. While living in NYC, Lilly was registered as a service dog at 3 years old. Kristie trained her to assist with a hearing disability she had temporarily endured after a bad car accident. Lilly fearlessly protected her owner and would make her aware of her surroundings, the train stop to get off at to go home, notify her if someone was at their door, and was always by her side or in her purse as her certified companion. Lilly was loving, loyal, and lived an exciting life. She experienced New York Fashion Week first hand, spent time on the beach at Cape Cod every summer, and loved to Paddleboard or Kayak with Kristie on the lake in their hometown. She enjoyed exploring new places, finding new trails and hikes, and was always down for a game of fetch. She practiced meditation and yoga with Kristie, perfecting a couple of her own poses and learned to say her prayers. She loved chicken, cheese, and ice cream. Lilly was a light in the lives of many and is survived by her owner Kristie, her “dogparents” Auntie A, Uncle Z & baby Gio, who took the best care of her during Covid, Auntie Dee, Uncle Jeff, Asher & soon to be babygirl, grandparents Beckie and Gary Great Grandparents Grammy Ann & Grandpa Ed, “Babcie” Helen and predeceased by her Great Grandpa Tony. She has many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends all over the country, and many roommates over the last several years who she grew to bond with and love deeply. Lilly transitioned peacefully by resting her head on Kristie’s heart after a brief illness and struggle with a recent medical procedure. Lilly will be cremated and preserved by Kristie with a portion of her ashes to be spread over one of her favorite places, the Brewster Flatts on Cape Cod. “An interesting life well-lived with no regrets” – Grandpa Ed |
