Ethan’s journey began with hardship. Rescued from an animal hoarder and then saved from a high kill shelter, he found his way to Canada through Calican Rescue. There, he was welcomed into his forever home with Lisa and her daughter Ashley, where he was deeply loved for the rest of his life. Ethan quickly became more than a pet. He was family. At first he was afraid of men, but within a year he discovered he was safe and grew to love them. He adored people more than other dogs, and everyone who met him felt his warmth. Ethan loved the simple joys of life. He was happiest when snuggling under blankets, enjoying treats, or sneaking bites of your food, a stranger’s food, or especially McDonald’s fries, which made him do his famous happy dance. He also had a true love for his own food, and the family often joked that he would live forever as long as food was close by. Road trips were another joy in his life. He loved traveling with his mom, Lisa, and together they explored many places across both the United States and Canada. For 11 years, Ethan was a steady companion, bringing comfort and smiles through life’s hardest moments. He was known by many names: Ethan, Snuggle Butt, Turdo, Sparky, Peepaw, Stinker, and Pigger. Each one reflected the affection and laughter he brought into his family’s lives. He also cherished time with his extended family. He enjoyed “learning to cook” with his Grandpaw, loved his Grandma snuggles, and treasured his Auntie cuddles. Lisa is heartbroken to say goodbye, but deeply grateful that Grandma and Auntie were able to be with Ethan in Truro, and that Grandpaw could be by his side in his final moments when he was transferred for specialized care. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Maritime Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Centre in Dartmouth and Truro Vet Hospital for their kindness and compassion. A very special thank you goes to Monique, whose help and support meant so much on Ethan’s final day. Ethan was so very loved, and his memory will be cherished forever by Lisa, Ashley, grammie, grandpaw, auntie Em,great nan and all who were lucky enough to know himGuestbook

I enjoyed seeing the love and adventures shared by Ethan and Lisa on Facebook. I ask our Lord to comfort Lisa, her family, and friends as they navigate this time of extreme grief and sorrow and that HE will assure Lisa that Ethan will never truly die as his spirit and love continues in her heart…
