Memorial

Cookie was rescued from the street life by Maria Mas in 2018 in the back alley behind the Shea Shea Bakery Skincare shop in Orlando, Fl. Going along with the theme of the business, she was named after a baked good. Her exact birthday is unknown but it was estimated that she could have been 1-2 years old at that time. ________________________________________________________ Cookie was the smartest, sweetest, cutest, strongest, most loving little girl. She was a very very special and unique girl. She was a funny and silly little girl too. She was known to give the best cuddles and human-like hugs a little kitty could give. She had such a kind and loving spirit. ________________________________________________________ She was a quiet little girl who didn’t meow much, but instead would squeak here and there, giving her one of her nicknames “squeaker” and “squeaky squeaker”. ________________________________________________________ She was highly observant and intelligent, communicating mostly through direct eye contact with her big beautiful yellow eyes. ________________________________________________________ Cookie’s health journey started the day she was taken in. On the day Cookie was rescued, Maria took Cookie straight to the vet where they confirmed she had ear infections and an upper respiratory infection. Soon after Cookie was rescued it was also discovered that she had pyometra, which required emergency surgery to save her life. And then a few months later it turned out Cookie also had roundworms and received treatment for that as well. ________________________________________________________ Cookie soon became a world traveler and a huge support system for Maria while she was completing her N.D. degree and had to be isolated in Toronto, On Canada during the Covid-19 pandemic. ________________________________________________________ Cookie not only had an impact on her owner Maria, but made quite an impact on others as well. While Maria was finishing her clinical year in the pandemic, Cookie made several appearances during teams meetings and virtual patient visits, bringing smiles to Maria’s classmates, supervisors, and patients. She soon gained a huge support system. ________________________________________________________ Starting in July 2021, Cookie began experiencing major health issues that led to the diagnosis and occurrence of environmental allergies, skin issues/infections, FeLV, hyperesthesia, congestive heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, chronic pulmonary disease, allergic reactions, infections, pancreatitis, anemia, and then the worse of them all: erythroid leukemia, which is what ultimately took her from the physical world. ________________________________________________________ Maria did not give up on Cookie and was determined that as long as she was still enjoying life, she would do whatever necessary to sustain it. ________________________________________________________ Cookie was able to outlive many prognosis estimates and while living through these conditions caused temporary moments of discomfort for Cookie, she was so strong and sweet through everything she went through and she still exhibited the enjoyment of life and will to live by looking out the window at birds and squirrels, pouncing at lizards on the window, initiating cuddling sessions for hours & purring every single day including on her last day in the physical world. Even up until 3 days before her passing she was still jumping across the bed. She was an amazing girl with so much strength and resilience. ________________________________________________________ Cookie and Maria are extremely thankful for all the friends, family, and veterinary medical team that supported all of Cookie’s challenges along the way. ________________________________________________________ We love and miss you more than anything Cookie. You will always be in our hearts forever.

You are the sweetest Cookie in the universe and I’m so lucky to have been your kitty auntie. I will always remember your loving cuddles and kisses. I hope you are enjoying an endless amount of tuna and lizard chasing in heaven. You may have been a small kitty but you made an enormous impact with your strength and love. Sending you hugs, cuddles, & kitty kisses 🩷
