Kira “Bitey” Burns passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 4th, 2023. She will always be remembered for her playfulness, the love she had for her people, her love for her toy Foxy, and her amazing guard dog skills. Kira was born on April 3rd, 2011 in Omaha, Nebraska to her mother, Remy, and father, Spot, thanks to the wonderful CalamusK9s organization. She later moved to New Jersey to be with her new family. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Princess Mulan, Mamoru, RJ, and Leia. Kira loved to run, hunt in her backyard, play with her toys, and give kisses. Those who loved her will always remember how loving and friendly she was towards other people. She is survived by her mom, stepparent, dad and aunt, as well as her younger brother Toby. She loved to roll around in the snow, and was the most photogenic dog you could ever know. Her dad was her favorite person in the world, and just like the famous dog Hachiko, she would wait for him to come home from work every day. Kira’s bravery, loyalty, and love for over 12 years will never be forgotten. Rest easy, big bear. 🌈
