Peaches was adopted at the Madera Animal Shelter when she was 5yrs old. She gave me 13 great years and was my first dog as an adult as well as my first adopted pet. Her passing hurt me dearly when she started to decline around her 18th birthday. We took her to the beach for the first time. Then as soon as we returned, the next day we had to take her to the emergency hospital because she couldn’t move anymore. At the vet they told us her organs were failing and we made the decision to humanely euthanize. We stayed by her side and held her as it happened. That is one of the hardest decisions a person has to make about their pet. But we do it because seeing them in pain and not having a proper solution for their illness is worst. She was our third senior pet who passed in the last two years. Every passing was painful. But the memories are different with each one. I want to remember Peaches for the longest companionship I haven’t shared to this day with any other dog. She had a princess-like personality (I think it was the poodle in her) and although she didn’t love her grooming visits, as soon as they were over she was prancing around like a little queen in her bows & dresses. I don’t know what her first few years were like, but I tried my best to make the rest of her life special. She got along with other dogs and people. People were definitely her favorite, it’s like she didn’t know she was a dog. She preferred being with humans and receiving their affection (especially treats). She even had her own job once as an educational dog when she and I worked at the SPCA. The kids loved her because she was so friendly. Never will there be another Peaches for me. She was unique. And in her honor I express my greatest gratitude. Thank you Lord for connecting our lives that day at the shelter. I was feeling down and she was sadly waiting in a shelter kennel to be given a chance. But as soon as we took her out of that cage and put her in our car, I vividly remember that she turned into a different dog bouncing around in happiness from being freed. That day marked my life forever and eventually that’s why her and I went to work at a shelter to help other dogs just like her get a chance to have a family too. The best decision ever made. May she rest warmly by your side.

I send you my condolences and hugs. The passing of a pet is never easy. She was a lucky pup to have someone such as yourself to love her unconditionally and include her in all you did. I hope that you are able to find comfort and peace in you the memories you made with this beautiful little girl. Im sure she’s running free with all lost pets on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge ❤ Love always
